In this tutorial I will show you how to perform a simple SQL Backup of all of your Catalog related tables. That could be either for products, categories, among other entity types.
Open your terminal and execute the following command by changing the values like “YOURUSER” and “YOURDBNAME” with you database information.
Notice that the table name has the word “yourpreffix”, that should be replaced with your Magento Table Preffix, in case you have one.
mysqldump -uYOURUSER -p YOURDBNAME $(mysql -uYOURUSER -p -D YOURDBNAME -Bse "SHOW TABLES LIKE 'yourpreffix_catalog%'") > /tmp/database-dump.sql
Once you do that, a file called /tmp/database-dump.sql will be generated containing the whole information for all the catalog tables.
